WORKING JOURNALIST MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINATION RECOMMENDATION COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT TO GOVERNMENT

AUGUST 29, 2008  The government-formed committee to recommend the determination of minimum wage of working journalists has submitted its report to Nepal government Minister for Information and Communication Krishna Bahadur Mahara on August 28, Thursday. But the government has not made public the report.

The recommendations the report furnished to the government include giving special attention for the salary and perks of working journalists, implementing working journalist act, depriving media, which ignore its implementation, of facilities, among others.

Formulation of advertisement policy, guaranteeing editorial freedom and appointing press registrar are among the other recommendations.
Freedom Forum asks the government to make public the report and ensure its effective and efficient implementation at the earliest.
