Journo Bhandari Attacked

Yet again, a journalist was attacked by an unknown gang in Pokhara, western city of Nepal, on April 4, 2012.

Pranil Bhandari, news reporter and newsreader at the Machhapuchhre FM was attacked while returning home from office in the night.

Talking to Media Monitoring Desk of Freedom Forum, his colleague, Laxmi JC said, "Bhandari was attacked severely by unknown gang at Newroad in the city when he was on a way back home. He had to have six stitches on head due to attack. He is out of danger now. However, the reason behind attack is not known."

Freedom Forum condemns the incident and strongly urges the security to arrest the attackers and mete out action on them. Moreover, the local administration must provide security to the journalists to work in a free and peaceful atmosphere. Freedom Forum wishes speedy recovery of journalist Bhandari.
