Journo Govinda Subedi Attacked

Yet again, a journalist from Pokhara, a western city of Nepal, was attacked by a gang on 11 March 2012.

Govinda Subedi associated with the Himdut daily published from Pokhara was beaten by a gang in a number of 9-10 while returning home from the newspaper office. He received injuries to legs and head.

According to advisor editor of the Himdut daily, Badri Binod Pratik, journalist Subedi was attacked by an unknown gang and received injuries. He is taking rest at home after treatment. His mobile was also looted.

He added that the district police have arrested a dozen of people in this connection and investigating into the case.

Freedom Forum thinks the attack was coordinated because journalist Subedi was thrashed immediately after he left office for home. Therefore, Freedom Forum urges the police administration to investigate the case fairly and bring to book the culprits. Also, journalist Subedi is wished speedy recovery.
