FM Journalist Chaudhary Left Injured

An unidentified group of three persons attacked Himal Chaudhary, a journalist for Himal FM Radio in Banke- a mid-western district of Nepal on January 2, 2011. While he was on the way back to home from office, an unruly gang attacked him with sharp weapon leaving him injured.

 Seriously wounded journalist Chaudhary has been admitted at Nepal Teaching Hospital for treatment. In a brief talk to reporters Chaudhary said, ''The gang attacked me suddenly stopping on the way I was returning home on Sunday evening accusing me of writing their news.''  The gang is yet to be identified. The persons involved in such a serious crime against journalists have not been taken to custody. 

Terming such incident an attempt to prevent journalist from covering news, Freedom Forum condemns the attack and demands the authority concerned prosecute the guilty.
