Freedom Forum is concerned over death threats issued against Narma Dev Yadav, a reporter for "Chhinnamasta FM" and "Aajakao Batabaran" daily by Janatantrik Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader in eastern Saptari district of Nepal.
Binaya Kumar Saha aka Agni Bidrohi of JMM threatened journalist Yadav with life on October 29, 2010 following a news report related to JMM.
"Saha threatened me because I didn't write the news report as per their wish," said journalist Yadav, "I am not sure whether they will take any untoward action against me." Following the threat, journalist Yadav has demanded security from government.
Freedom Forum demands an immediate police investigation into the threats against Yadav and to take credible action against guilty of the incident to end the culture of impunity in the Terai region of Nepal. Freedom Forum calls on government to provide enough security to the victim journalist in order to stop further threat to him.
