Inebriated Police on-duty Attacks Journalist

Yagya Raj Thapa, correspondent for Radio Nepal and Nepal Samacharpatra in Dailekh district located in the central region of Nepal was

attacked by inebriated police of National Investigation District Office, Shanker Thapa on April 25, Saturday. 

Journalist Thapa who went to collect news report of the inauguration of Dailekh Naumule road section was assaulted by investigation police Thapa following the completion of porgramme. He reached there with his office chief. 

The journalist had sought shelter in Naumule-based area police office after the police warned to kill him on the way to returning home. 
Freedom Forum deplores the incident and asks with the government to bring the guilty to book at the earliest. It is the violation of journalist’s right to write and disseminate news which has increased the state of impunity. The state should bring measures to remove the situation of lawlessness and facilitate workable environment for journalists.
