Television journalists misbehaved in Dhading

Reporter to Himalaya Television Samir Joshi and camera person Jivan Subedi were abused while reporting in Dhading on October 4. Dhading lies in Bagmati Province of Nepal.

According to reporter Joshi, himself and cameraperson Subedi went to District administration office, Dhading to report on a complaint where locals claimed that they found foreign body inside a sealed jar of water. The jar was manufactured in Dhading.

“As I asked assistant Chief District officer Humnath Parajuli about the issue he started shouting at me with abusive words. I requested him to answer my question instead of shouting at me but he did not stop”, shared Joshi.

Freedom Forum condemns misbehavior meted out to the reporters. The administrative office is a responsible authority for safety and security of citizens. Such behavior of a public official is an absolute violation of press freedom.

FF strongly urges the officer to apologize for the misbehavior and cooperate journalists in their reporting.
