panicked women journalists started quitting their profession

Likewise, panicked women journalists have started quitting their profession in the wake of monstrous murder of journalist Uma Singh in Janakpur, the southern Tarai district of Nepal, according to The Kathmandu Post, a national daily.

Women journalists in Tarai region have been working with the feeling of insecurity and pressure these days. Karuna Poudel, a Dhanusha based journalist, quit her profession recently for the security reasons. "Family members did not advise me to continue in the profession. My mother did not even talk to me since I turned down her request to me to leave journalism promptly after Uma's killing" said Poudel. According to the Post report, a radio journalist associated with the local Mithilanchal FM, Bijeta Singh is also in no mood of continuing with her profession. She said that her family has also exerted huge pressure on her to quit the profession.
