Journalist Nagendra Upadhya was issued a death threat for publishing news about state property in the name of the person on January 8 in Surkhet. Surkhet lies in Province 6.
Journalist Upadhya is associated with Nagarik Daily.
As per Freedom Forum's representative, Laxmi Bhandari, journalist Upadhya received death threats from persons who have been holding the state land.
Journalist Upadhya said,'' After I wrote the news, it is being difficult for me to walk freely.''
FF condemns as such incident issuing a threat to the journalists for writing news is a condemnable and serious violation of press freedom. Hence, FF strongly urges the concerned authority to respect the rights of journalists and ensure a safe atmosphere for them.
