Journalist gets threaten


Teachers of Janashanti Lower Secondary School at Marpha of Mustang, located in the western part of Nepal, have threatened Mustang based journalist Chandreshwor Bastakoti of his life for last couple of days over a news regarding beating of a student.
Journalist Bastakoti said he has been receiving threats of dire consequences over the news of beating of a grade seven student Kalpana BK by her teachers. Journalist Bastakoti who is associated with the Nepal Television, Nawa Bikalpa, and Annapurna FM, has informed that he is under tremendous mental torture since the time he started receiving threatens from the teachers of the school.
 
Freedom Forum condemns the incident and urges all to respect the profession of journalism and resort to other legal remedies rather than threatening a journalist over a published matter. The Forum also asks the responsible bodies to take necessary action in transparent manner.
